Guelph Jr. B Regals Standard Operation Safety Policy
The Guelph Junior B Regals Lacrosse Club is committed to ensuring that all persons visiting Victoria Road Arena on the day of a game are able to enjoy a safe, respectful, and positive outing without the interference of negative, disrespectful, or threatening actions.
To ensure the safety of all fans, volunteers, players, referees, and coaches, the Guelph Junior B Regals Lacrosse Club has adopted a Standard Operation Safety Policy that will be adhered to by all visiting persons on the day of a home game. At each home game, a Game Day Safety Team will be assembled and each member will be easily identified as such. It is the duty of each member of the Game Day Safety Team to assist and enforce a safe and respectful atmosphere for the duration of the event.
1. Alcohol & Substance Use
All fans, team officials, referees, players, and coaches must respect the laws regarding the consumption of alcohol in the City of Guelph. At no time before, during or after Guelph Regals Junior B Lacrosse games will alcohol or other substance use be permitted in the arena. The Regals do not permit any unregulated tailgating on the arena property by any person(s). Should a person be suspected of being intoxicated, a member of the Game Day Safety Team will safely escort the individual(s) from the game.
2. Safety of Officials
When the on-floor officials arrive at the arena on the day of the game, they will be introduced to a representative from the Game Day Safety Team. The representative will speak with the on-floor officials about their role prior to, during, and after the game to help ensure the safety of the officials. Throughout the duration of the on-floor officials time at the arena, a member from the Safety Team will be on hand outside of their dressing room at all times to oversee their safety. Prior to the game, a designated area will be available for the on-floor officials to stretch and warm-up prior to the game. If at any time during the game an on-floor official deems that a fan, team staff, or player who is not dressed for the game is exhibiting unsafe and/or disrespectful behaviour, the Safety Team will assist in removing said individual(s) from the premises. At the conclusion of a game, on-floor officials will have the option to exit the arena via an alternate route with the help of a Safety Team member who will escort them to their vehicles if requested.
Should any incident before, during, or after the game escalate past the point where the efforts of the officials and Safety Team are ineffective and require the authorities to be involved, it will be the responsibility of the Safety Team to call the police. Should this occur, at least one member of the Safety Team shall remain with the on-floor officials and one member meet the police at the front entrance of the arena and escort them to where the incident is taking place.
3. Safety of the Visiting Club
When the visiting club arrives at the arena on the day of the game, a member of the Game Day Safety Team will introduce themselves to its staff. The representative will speak with the visiting club’s representatives about their role prior to, during, and after the game to help ensure the safety of the visiting club. From the time the visiting club arrives, the Safety Team shall ensure the area immediately outside the visitor’s dressing room is clear from all fans and home team personnel (unless otherwise required or permitted for essential game day related tasks) at all times. A member of the Safety Team will be on hand near the visitor’s dressing room throughout the game to ensure that no fans are in violation of this rule. The visiting club bench will also be monitored throughout the duration of the game to ensure no fan(s) or home team player(s) are interfering with the visiting bench personnel. Upon the completion of the game, the visiting club will have the option to have a Safety Team member escort their team out of the arena to their bus/cars.
Should any incident before, during, or after the game escalate past the point where the efforts of the visiting club and Safety Team are ineffective and require the authorities to be involved, it will be the responsibility of the Safety Team to call the police. Should this occur, at least one member of the Safety Team shall remain with the visiting club and one member meet the police at the front entrance of the arena and escort them to where the incident is taking place.
4. Safety of the Home Club
When the home club arrives at the arena on the day of the game, a member of the Game Day Safety Team will introduce themselves to its staff. The representative will speak with the home club’s representatives about their role prior to, during, and after the game to help ensure the safety of the visiting club. From the time the home club arrives, the Safety Team shall ensure the area immediately outside the visitor’s dressing room is clear from all fans and visiting team personnel at all times. A member of the Safety Team will be on hand near the home team’s dressing room throughout the game to ensure that no fans are in violation of this rule. The home club bench will also be monitored throughout the duration of the game to ensure no fan(s) or visiting team player(s) are interfering with the home bench personnel. Upon the completion of the game, the home club will have the option to have a Safety Team member escort its players and staff out of the arena to their vehicles.

5. Safety of Fans/Volunteers
Upon the arrival of fans and volunteers to the arena on the day of the game, it will be the duty of the Game Day Safety Team to consistently monitor the seating and standing area. In the event that there are fans on both the upper and lower levels of the arena, at least one Safety Team member will be on each level to monitor behaviour and actions of fans and volunteers. The role of the Safety Team will be to remind any fans and volunteers of the Safety Policy and that any unsafe and/or disrespectful behaviour towards others is prohibited. Should any fan be found to disregard and disobey this Policy, they will be removed from the premises immediately. In addition, any fan and/or volunteer will have the option to request an escort out of the building at any time to ensure their safe exit.

Should this occur, at least one member of the Safety Team shall remain with the fan(s)/volunteer(s) involved and one member meet the police at the front entrance of the arena and escort them to where the incident is taking place.
